This is a mecca for climbers, geologists and walkers alike. The British 1953 Expedition for Mnt Everest trained in this location and resided at the Pen-y-Gwryd_Hotel at the east end of the pass. The Cromlech Boulders were saved from destruction in 1973 as part of a proposed road widening scheme, the protest lasted 6 years tirelessly campaigned by Climbers, Geologists, Conservationists and Walkers until they won and the boulders remain to this day.

New Years Eve in Caernarfon

Caernarfon Castle - Gwynedd North Wales "New Year"

Caernarfon Castle view from the Menai
\New Years Eve Firework Display

How about New Years Eve in Wales!, as I can only answer for Nth Wales here is beautiful Caernarfon, there is a fireworks display near the Castle and there is parking across from the castle on Aber Shore Road which is used by Motorhomes throughout the year. Then opposite you have The Angelsey where you can get a drink. If you are thinking of attending, check with the Angelsey in case there is an entrance fee and if you intend to park, get there early as I think these places will be snapped up and please post a couple of your photographs on here for your fellow campers, I hope this post is helpful regards James.

Holyhead - Angelsey

Angelsey - Holyhead
This is a great place to park and wild camp with a multitude of facilities and your finger tips, with views of the 2nd largest Breakwater in the world, only 2nd to Florida. There is a museum and Gallery situated on the site where the rock to build the Breakwater was quarried from. The Old buildings have been utilised to create a Cafe and a Gallery where the furnaces were situated. There is an abundance of wildlife in the area from seabirds to raptors and the Chough (a member of the crow family) are all residents. Out to sea there are views toward Ireland and a range of Sea Mamals from Dolphins to Humpback Whales have all been observed and even the occasional Orca or Basking Shark. The walks that take you along the Welsh Coastal Path are nothing short of breath taking and refreshing and in good weather a lovely way to sit and observe the wildlife on land and sea.
The Breakwater is no longer accessible by vehicle but can walked along and cycled. Stena who own the property now have restricted vehicle access due to excess littering and safety grounds, although there is always optimism that they may allow vehicles to camp over night on the Breakwater in the future. I have parked on the entrance to the Breakwater many times (just enter these co-ordintaes to your sat nav LL65 1Y ) and its just through the gates on your right and spent the night and have never had anyone ask me to move.
The marina and Breakwater are great for fishing (there are bait shops in the town), Kayking and Storm watching.

This a short video of the Breakwater in a Storm I took with me and Tracy in 2014
